Taking a cue from the upcoming G7 Culture Summit, to be held in Florence this Thursday and Friday, March 30 and 31, and centering on the protection of cultural heritage, mayor Dario Nardella has announced the introduction of a membership card that will allow access to 18 participating contemporary museums across Italy. “This is the first time in Italy we’ve brought together museums and institutions dedicated to the contemporary under one inter-regional network. The G7 Culture Summit is the perfect occasion to launch this project, which is overseen by the Ministry of Cultural Heritage.”

The project, known as “contemporaneamenteItalia,” will launch on June 1 and each 30 euro card will be valid until the end of the year. Cardholders will be able to visit select museums, though Nardella has expressed willingness to welcome other participating institutions into the network, as well as work with private partners who would like to help develop the initiative.
