In an effort to compete with less costly dental services in Eastern Europe, a group of Venetian dentists has opened a low-cost dental centre, the Venice Dental Centre, which offers complete dental care packages that include a gondola ride or two.
For years, Italians have been traveling to countries like Croatia, Hungary, Poland, and even Russia, to get dental work done for fractions of the price. Called dental tourism, patients can have a holiday, and at the same time, take advantage of low-cost, high-quality dental care.
The Venetian dentists want to keep Italian patients in Italy by offering the same deal: low-cost dental care and a holiday in one of the country's most beautiful cities. Between fillings and cleaning, patients can go on a gondola ride or take a walk across the Rialto Bridge-and still save money: a dental cleaning costs just 40 euro, 60 euro less than the standard.
