Florence's new administration continues to introduce changes that affect traffic and public transport.
Following the success of the pedestrian-only zone in Piazza Duomo, the city has decided to clear Piazza Signoria of private and municipal motor vehicles. Since November 20, even the authorized vehicles that have been allowed to park on via dei Gondi have been banned. Now only members of the city administration and disabled drivers will be allowed to park on via dei Gondi, on the side of the even civic numbering.
New routes and hours for the small electric buses that service Florence's historic centre went into effect on November 23. Not only do the new routes offer quicker transit to and from Santa Maria Novella train station, they also include stops at public car parks in the centre, and the service has been extended to Sundays.
