The Umbrian town of Assisi recently opened an exhibition featuring 28 frescoes by Giotto depicting the life of St. Francis. The work of Renaissance master is located in the Upper Church of the Assisi Basilica. Entitled La Basilica di Assisi tra Restauro e Restituzione Virtuale (The Basilica of Assisi, Restoration and Virtual Reconstruction), the show runs until September 5. Also in Assisi, a virtual reconstruction of the fresco cycle is on display at the newly restored Palazzo Del Monte Frumentario. Entitled Giotto Com'Era (Giotto As He Was), the exhibits' touch-screen panels that provide comparisons between Giotto's original work, with bright colors and sharp modelling, and its appearance in its current state; another section of the exhibition allows visitors to ‘enter' the fresco.
