Florence's falcons

(issue no. 166/2012 / June 21, 2012)

For several months, a pair of falcons has been nesting on Florence's Duomo, often, to the delight of tourists and locals alike, seen swooping around the dome and bell tower. Recently, however, the male fell to the ground as he was flying by the Baptistery. Fortunately, municipal police officers on duty in the area came to his rescue. The hawk was taken to the Vicchio Birds of Prey recovery centre for treatment. He is expected to be back with his mate before long.
