The much anticipated premiere of the short film Florence in Love will be Wednesday July 25 at 8pm at Cinema Odeon (Piazza Strozzi, Florence).
Florence in Love is a short film in English, which was entirely shot in Florence in the summer of 2011. The film was created with the intent to promote the wonderful locations of Florence and Tuscany through an international film project. The two Florentine authors, Diana Santi and Giuseppe De Angelis, both living in New York City and moved by an unbridled love for their city, aim to encourage all foreign independent film productions to develop more and more international projects in the Italian locations.
Produced by NYC-based Purple Reel Productions "Florence in Love" harmoniously combines the classic traits of the American romantic comedy with the inimitable charm of all-Italian atmospheres, flavored with fine wine, delicious cuisine, Piazza Michelangelo, and a passion that burns hotter than the Tuscan sun.
The Plot: Love is in the air when New York power couple Laura and her wealthy husband Robert are in Florence, Italy. Robert, a lawyer, is there on business, just about to make the million dollar deal of his life. The adventurous Laura has devised a plan to secretly bring along her younger New York boy toy lover, Peter. The always quiet and shy Cynthia, Laura's hairdresser, has found herself completely out of her element in a scheme to pose as Peter's fiancée. As usual, shrewd Laura has figured everything out and is about to have the most romantic rendez-vous this side of the Ponte Vecchio. In a sudden turn of events, Laura suspects her stoic husband Robert of cheating on her with the naïve Cynthia, and everything from her plan to her high heels seems to fall apart...
The film has been supported by numerous local institutions thanks to the interest of Stefania Ippoliti at the Tuscan Film Commission and Lucia de Siervo at the City of Florence, and by other private facilities in Florence. A special mention also goes to the Hotel Tornabuoni Beacci, Villa La Vedetta and to the Grand Hotel Minerva, who have offered their unique facilities to the production, and to Luisa Via Roma, who has sponsored all the costumes on set. The Florentine is media partner.
The entrance to the screening is free and seating will be on a first-come, first-served basis.
