After a sold-out world premiere at the Odeon in October, When the World Answered is back by popular demand! This art documentary from the makers of the Emmy-winning Invisible Women spotlights the international women artists who gifted their works to Florence after the 1966 flood destroyed over 14,000 artworks. Their dream was to create a modern-day Uffizi and catapult the city into the twentieth century. This inspirational story is an ode to art, restoration and Florence, and is particularly poignant in 2016, fifty years after the fact. In English with Italian subtitles. Admission is free. Based in Berlin, Japanese composer and vibraphonist Masayoshi Fujita produces ambient sound that has been described as ‘sophisticated and dreamlike, minimalist and intimate.’ Originally a drummer, when Fujita took up the vibraphone, he brought to it a peculiar mix of neoclassical tendencies and modern rhythms. He’ll perform pieces from his newest solo album Apologues, which Pitchfork called a rebuttal of the notion that the vibraphone is merely ‘a supporting instrument submerged by voices, guitars, strings, horns and drums.’ Purchase tickets via Musicus Concentus.

Emma Bardini was the elegantly dressed daughter of the antiquarian Stefano Bardini, whose impressive collection is housed in the Bardini Museum at the south end of the Ponte alle Grazie. Her enviable wardrobe has been lost, but Mario Nunes Vais’s period photographs, which captured her in much of it, inspired this exhibition, which features 43 outfits reflecting the evolution of style from the 1920s to the 1980s. Celebrated collector Beatrice Albrici is behind the choices, which include decade-defining dresses, hats, gloves, bags and numerous other accessories.
