La Toscana di Ruffino: The taste for being together was presented at Italy’s largest wine fair, Vinitaly, by Ruffino’s global brand and corporate PR manager Francesco Sorelli. Sorelli also authored the book, which takes readers on a salivating journey through life in Tuscany and the centrality of the table and conviviality in daily living.

The book begins with a chapter dedicated to desinare, the Tuscan word to mean a weekday lunch eaten at home, a breaking of the fast back in the days when food at noon wasn’t always guaranteed. Typical moments are explained such as merenda, the afternoon snack enjoyed by youngsters as they run off their energy after school, and the grown-up equivalent, aperitivo. Sunday lunch, Easter and Christmas all have their own chapters, as do pane sciocco (salt-less bread), offal and new olive oil in this beautifully presented 378-page hardback opus to Tuscan living.
