ristori1Nowhere in Florence shines quite like the jewelry shops lining the Ponte Vecchio. But one in particular glimmers extra bright as it celebrates its thirtieth anniversary this year. T. Ristori carries both world-renowned brands and artisanal pieces made using methods of days gone by.

Ristori’s location is just as illustrious as the labels it carries, and the intimate interior is packed with Florentine peculiarities. Observant shoppers might spot a red spiral staircase hidden in the corner.

These regal steps were constructed for Francesco I de’ Medici, Grand Duke of Tuscany, and wind their way up to the Vasari Corridor–they’re the single access point to the fabled walkway on the Ponte Vecchio, lending Ristori an air of exclusivity.ristori55Adding to the shop’s opulent but intimate feel is an Italian Baroque painting from Gasparo Diziani, depicting the Genesis passage of Rebecca and Eliezer at the well, where betrothal jewels figure heavily into the story. Standing before the painting, you get a sense of just how far back the story of fine jewelry extends.

Ristori holds tight to this longstanding tradition, carrying renowned international brands like Marco Bicego, Mattioli and Ponte Vecchio Gioielli. But personalization is just as important as prestige, and the Ristori staff offers a tailored experience to each client they cross paths with. Shoppers also often have the opportunity to mingle with VIP guests, like Marco Bicego, who will be in the shop on July 28. Visitors can talk directly with the designer behind their purchases, a rare opportunity often lost in the hurried heyday of fast fashion and online shopping. Those interested in meeting the Venetian designer can call the store for event details and confirmation. Looking ahead on the Florence horizon, Ristori’s staff will soon launch a series of 30th anniversary celebrations, kicking off on September 5 with an elegant event on their terrace-with-a-view. Plenty of exciting promotions and exclusive presentations are also in the pipeline: stay tuned.
