The lure of Florentine life lies not in big-ticket events and occasions, but in the moments and rituals that lend the city its rhythm. Local street style is a reflection of that same idea, of every day as a special occasion: you may not see the outlandish getups you’d spot on the streets of New York or Tokyo (save during Pitti season), but seeing people in their Sunday best in the supermarkets and on the street corners isn’t uncommon.

Aiming to inspire TF readers to start 2016 on stylish footing, we headed to Karasciò to snatch up the items for this shoot. It’s an offbeat shop in via San Niccolò, perfect for everyday wear with a hint of urban edge. A small store with big variety, Karasciò embraces pretty and punk sensibilities as two sides of the same coin: think bijoux and booties, turtlenecks and tartan plaids, babydoll dresses and spiky platforms. What every item has in common, though, is wearability.

The relaxed but chic feel of the clothes paired perfectly with an Oltrarno backdrop—a place where those small, special, uniquely Florentine occasions are king.
