The Medici family has recently returned to Florence thanks to The Medici Dynasty Show. This unique theatre show, performed in English, is a one-hour production about the cultural heritage handed down to humanity by the family over 300 years of history. This season, the show is being staged in a new, impressive location, the Baroque church of Sant’Onofrio, in the Il Fuligno complex, at via Faenza 48.  The 2016 season opens with a new script created by author Marisa Garreffa, based on the original script by Gherardo Rosati Vitali, Carolina Gamini and Giuseppe Arone, and has been adapted by theatre director Bari Hochwald.

The performance chronicles the crucial encounter between Anna Maria Luisa de’ Medici and her brother Gian Gastone on June 24, 1737, at the Pitti Palace. They were the last heirs of the Medici, the Florentine family who reigned over the city for three centuries. The Medici Dynasty Show aims to provide the public with an educational form of entertainment, communicating basic information about Florence, the Medici and Italian history in a richly informative way. The show is suitable for all visitors regardless of age or nationality.

The performance lasts for about one hour and begins every day, except Mondays and Fridays, at 7pm, in the beautiful church of Sant’Onofrio in via Faenza 48, just five minutes’ walk from Santa Maria Novella station.
