On September 16, Italian police arrested the leader of a major crime family in Naples. Authorities stated that the arrest of the 52-year old suspect, Paolo Di Lauro, would put an end to a yearlong gang war that has been responsible for the deaths of some 50 people. Di Lauro was among Italy’s most wanted fugitives and has been on the run for over three years. Giuseppe Pisanu, the Italian Interior Minister, told reporters in Rome, “The most important faction of the Camorra was decapitated. It no longer has its head.”
