Soccer fans will soon have to flash a badge to access matches. Following an accord made by Coni, Lega Calcio and Figc, individual football clubs in Italy will be given the responsibility of providing their supporters with the required identification card needed to gain access to matches. The new ID card for soccer enthusiasts may soon be extended to other sports events. Fans displaying cards will be awarded special privileges, such as gaining access to matches just minutes before kick off (now they must buy tickets in advance by leaving their full names), more lenient security measures in stadiums, and attend high-tension away matches regardless of travel bans on fans. The new card should to reduce fan violence at football match and, eventually, other sporting events.
