For Italy, 2010 promises to be a memorable year in popular music, with several high-profile concerts scheduled around the country.
The artists range from homegrown Italian talents, like rockers Ligabue and Vasco Rossi (who closes the Italian leg of his European tour in Florence’s Nelson Mandela Forum on October 12, 13, 17 and 18), to international stars, among them Rod Stewart (June 21 at Arena di Verona), Whitney Houston (May 3 at Milan’s Forum di Assago; May 4 at Rome’s Palalottomatica), Michael Bublé (May 22 at Arena di Verona; May 23 at Milan’s Forum di Assago) and Elton John (September 19, 20 at Rome’s Auditorium di Roma).
Rock veterans AC/DC come to Italy on the Black Ice tour for one concert date, May 19 at Udine’s Stadio Friuli, while newcomers to the music scene, Mika, appear in concert in Milan on April 21. Teenage heartthrobs Tokio Hotel will perform in Turin, Padua, Rome and Milan. U2 make stops on their 360/o tour in Turin on August 6 and at Rome’s Stadio Olimpico on October 8.
Even Hollywood star Kevin Costner and his band Modern West are in the mix, appearing in concert at Milan’s Teatro Smeraldo on May 31.
