Some 2,600 professional translators and interpreters in over 60 countries recently named Italian the most romantic language in the world. As part of a search for the most romantic language and most romantic word, a London-based translation firm, Today Translation, polled more than 320 of its linguists. As the ‘language of love,’ Italian narrowly edged French, Spanish and English. ‘Amore,’ the Italian word for ‘love,’ was voted the second most romantic word in any language, with the French ‘amour’ taking first. Other Italian words that made the list were ‘bellissima,’ ‘tesoro,’ ‘dolcezza’ and ‘innamorata.’
