Do you have a
beautiful voice for lyrical opera? Or play a string instrument? Then YouTube
and the Puccini Festival Foundation want you. A new online talent show, That’s
Opera Talent, has been launched on the video-sharing platform YouTube.

The show is
jointly promoted by Ricordi & C, YouTube and Puccini Festival Foundation.
With the goal of engaging Italian youth in lyrical opera, the Italian youth
ministry is sponsoring the show, and young musical talents are encouraged to
participate.

Aspiring
contestants should log onto the YouTube channel www.youtube.com/thatsoperatalent.
Participants will be asked to send a clip of themselves singing or playing a
piece from Giacomo Puccini’s Madam Butterfly.

At the end of the
contest, the top 10 contestants (one soprano, one tenor, four violinists, two
viola players, one cello player and one contrabass player) will be given the
chance to perform for four nights at the Puccini Festival in Torre del Lago, Pisa, this July and August.

The
overall winner will be awarded a special prize: the opportunity to take part in
a summer master class for young singers and musicians at the prestigious
Accademia Internazionale della Musica di Villa Simonetta in Milan.
