The world’s most popular professional online social network, LinkedIn, boasts almost 70 million users across the world, one million of whom are in Italy. Founded seven years ago, LinkedIn is a business-oriented social networking site for professionals. It is used in more than 200 countries worldwide and it is available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese and Spanish.
The majority of users come from Great Britain, India and the United States, but the professional networking site is also making ground in Italy. The survey, conducted by Vincenzo Cosenza from Rome’s Digital PR, looked at user profiles in 20 countries and found that in Italy, more men than women use LinkedIn and that about 60 percent are between 25 and 34 years old. Most LinkedIn users work in the fields of high technology, finance, manufacturing and in larger international companies, where the site is ‘used a lot to build a professional career,’ Cosenza reported.
