The world's largest Internet search engine and Internet services firm, Google, recently launched its latest 3D cities. Alongside Milan and Venice, Florence can now be visited virtually with three-dimension software.

But will this new view of Florence bring with it a new ideas and perspectives?

Google 3D mapped over 17,000 buildings in the city that can now be seen three-dimensionally by clicking www.earth.google.it; to see Florence in 3D users type the city's name in the search bar and click on the ‘3D buildings' icon. Users can zoom in and out of images, move around buildings, look at them from different angles and travel virtually throughout the city (even fly over and above its rooftops) at the simple click of a mouse.

To explore Florence from this new view, you need to download the latest version of Google Earth 5.0 at: http://earth.google.com/intl/it/download-earth.html.

According to the company, ‘Google Earth lets you fly anywhere on earth to view satellite imagery, maps, terrain, 3D buildings, from galaxies in outer space to the canyons of the ocean. You can explore rich geographical content, save your toured places, and share with others.'
