Construction of Rome’s long-anticipated subway line, Metro C, started years ago. At the close of 2010, local officials announced that the financing to complete the project was finally secured. With the addition of the third line, the San Giovanni subway station will become a hub linking Metro lines A and C.  During work on the San Giovanni subway station, from January 31 until April 2012, the Metro A line will close at 9pm from Sunday to Friday. A fleet of 48 shuttle buses will run the route above ground until 11:30pm. For details and a complete timetable, see www.atac.roma.it.
