Florentine secondary school with a sports focus is expected to open later this year. Fiorentina School, a liceo scientifico (scientific high school), will offer an innovative curriculum, combining the best academic requirements with in-depth sports training. In particular, it will serve those who have difficulty balancing sport and academic studies at school.

The school is a partnership with the Istituto dei Padri Scolopi di Firenze-Scuole Pie Fiorentine and ACF Fiorentina. On January 19 and February 16, the public is invited to an open house, a time when they can tour the facilities and meet the teachers. Registration for the 2013-2014 school year is already open, and applications are being accepted until February 28. (For details, contact www.scuolepiefiorentine.it.)

Extra-curricular sports activities will be offered in collaboration with ACF Fiorentina and Giovani Promesse Viola, the youth club of the ACF Fiorentina.

The FLIC project has helped restore other monuments in the city but more landmarks still need to be ‘saved.' Read more about the initiative at http://tinyurl.com/8mmwkls and watch this video at http://tinyurl.com/8qnq96n
