Before the Christmas break, the International School of Florence’s choir was invited to sing at the Il Gignoro retirement home. A group of students from the ISF choir sang Christmas songs for the elderly people.

It was really nice to see their reactions, some of them were holding the rhythm with their hands, while others were singing along or just watching in amusement.

At the end of the performance, we presented ourselves and I was moved by an 80-year-old Italian lady who stood up and thanked us on the microphone in English. One of our students, Malaika, had baked cupcakes, which we handed out to our audience; these were gratefully received by everyone!

It was lovely to see that they appreciated our presence and performance, and I am pleased that I was able to provide some good cheer and participate in a special afternoon for them, that perhaps was unlike their every day routine in the home.
