A fluffy flash mob of enthusiastic TF readers enjoyed some old-fashioned slumber party fun in piazza del Duomo on Wednesday, September 24.
TF organized the first-ever #TFPillowFight in collaboration with boutique bedding store Piumini Danesi. Approximately 80 people spanning a range of ages and nationalities battled it out under Brunelleschi’s dome. Piumini Danesi supplied enough pillows for the first 30 participants, but many attendees treated the event as ‘BYOP,’ sacrificing their own cushions for the cause.
The flash mob caught some bystanders and piazza vendors by surprise. After dividing the crowd in two teams, TF staff members spearheaded the standoff, initiating the action with a blow horn and continuing to ‘referee’ for the duration of the initial 3-minute fight. A second round took place after some late arrivals expressed their eagerness to participate. Afterward, everyone cooled off with some light refreshments.
Local Italian news outlets also caught wind of the fun: Corriere Fiorentino published an album of pillow fight highlights this morning.
