Goodbye yellow brick road and hello Lucca: British pop icon Elton John will headline the 2015 Lucca Summer Festival. His July 11 appearance is currently the only one he has scheduled for Italy in 2015.
Sir Elton will perform in piazza Napoleone, the site of most of the festival’s main events, beginning at 9:30pm, accompanied by his band, which includes Davey Johnstone, guitar and vocals; Matt Bissonette, bass and vocals; Kim Bullard, keyboards; Nigel Olsson, drums and vocals; and John Mahon, percussion and vocals.
Elton John’s 50-year career has produced more than 50 top-40 hits, earning him numerous awards and accolades, including six Grammys, five Brit Awards, a Tony and an Oscar. His extensive catalogue includes classics ‘Rocket Man,’ ‘Tiny Dancer,’ ‘Your Song’ and ‘Candle in the Wind.’
Another big name on the line-up for 2015 is Robbie Williams, who will perform on July 23 as part of his Let Me Entertain You tour. This is also Williams’ only Italy concert date currently scheduled.
