Local organization Creative People in Florence is preparing to launch The Creative Collective, a fresh, funky new exhibition space and arts center in the heart of the Sant’Ambrogio neighborhood.
The brainchild of jewelry designer and CPIF co-founder Sara Amrhein, The Creative Collective will showcase a selected artist’s work each month, in a designated area of Sara’s recently refurbished studio (via di Mezzo 6r). Sara explained that the project seeks to ‘give Florence’s finest independent artists and designers a space to show their work to the public, and to give a voice to a new generation of artists and makers that are bringing new life to the city.’
Each exhibition will open with a reception and a chance to meet and greet the artist or designer. Featured artists will span a range of media, including painting, sculpture, video, graphic design, photography, projection, installation, fashion and accessories, and visual merchandising. The first call for entries is open until October 9; for detailed information on how to apply, visit the CPIF website.
The team behind The Creative Collective would like to eventually offer artist talks, workshops, portfolio review sessions and brainstorming meetings: ‘Being artists ourselves, we understand the creative process and know how important it is to talk through your ideas with others,’ Sara said. In the long term, The Creative Collective aims to become a contemporary art hub in Florence.
The official opening reception will take place at 7.30pm on September 10.
