Tennis lovers are in for a treat in the next 10 days as Pontassieve stages a top-tier men’s open tournament.

Just 30 minutes from Florence, high-calibre players from all over Italy will be contesting for the 3,000-euro prize money at Curiel tennis club.

Former Italian number one junior champion Matteo Trevisan will be coming to the Tuscan town as well as Daniele Giorgini, currently 668 in the world ranking with 15 Futures titles under his belt. Other players to watch include the left-handed Argentina-to-Puglia transplant Valentin Florez, former pros Leonardo Azzaro, Stefano Cobolli and resident club favourite and former 564 ATP ranked Marco Simoni.
