Florence’s international community is mourning the death of Ashley Olsen, 35, an active member of Florence’s arts scene.

Found in her Oltrarno apartment in via Santa Monaca on the afternoon of January 9, Olsen was from Summer Haven, Florida, and the daughter of Walter Olsen, professor of architecture at the Florence Institute of Design International.
Police spokeswoman Maddalena Carosi confirmed that the cause of death has not yet been established, although news reports state bruising and scratches had been found on the victim’s neck. The public prosecutors’ office has opened an investigation.
