Covering topics as diverse as food, architecture and the possible meeting place of Dante and Beatrice, Pontassieve da Scoprire (Discover Pontassieve) is a new guide to the town, past and present.
The guide contains some of the area’s most significant historical stories and legends, such as the meeting between Dante and Beatrice in the surrounding countryside; the long tradition of the fiascaie (wine flask weavers); the stories found in the frescoes of Palazzo Sansoni Trombetta; and background on the many architectural curiosities throughout the territory.
The guide also includes detailed information on gastronomic products, from PGI Tuscan oil to saffron and various meats.
Available in Italian and English, the 34-page PDF can be downloaded free on the Comune’s website, accompanied by a detailed map and condensed guide to the town.
