Artwork by students from Florence’s Accademia di Belle Arti will add a new dimension to Florence’s Botanical Gardens this summer, until September 27, in a new exhibition entitled “Flowers”.
Hidden among the flowerbeds, hanging from the trees or covered by the tall grass, sculptures and installations will be on display in the green surroundings. All these pieces were made out of natural materials—pinecones, bamboo, bark—and specifically for this setting. The artworks situated in one of the garden’s green houses, on the other hand, were created from manmade materials: plastics, glass and mirrors. Professor Giandomenico Semeraro, co-curator of “Flowers”, promises visitors an immersive experience in this exhibition that finds the beautiful in the ecological.
The Botanical Gardens (via Micheli 3) are open daily from 10am to 7pm. Closed Wednesdays.
