Seventy new taxi permits have been issued by the City of Florence to improve transport around town.

Florence councillor for economic development Giovanni Bettarini commented: “This is a highly important time. The end of the procedure to issue 70 new taxi permits will allow us to introduce to the streets 70 new electric cars this December, a month earlier than expected.”

Bettarini continued, “This is an important result for this administration but above all for Florence, a city that grows and changes that needs an innovative taxi service at its best. Now we have 70 individuals who will be called upon in the next few days to allocate the permits and a list of 350 qualified persons that will remain valid for five years.”

Among those to receive the new permits, 28 are women and 27 are graduates.
