Ai Weiwei donates to Florence

Self portrait and a portrait of Filippo Strozzi

Following the success of Ai Weiwei’s high-impact exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi, the controversial Chinese artist has donated two works to Florence.

Portrait of Filippo Strozzi, Ai Weiwei 

The Self-Portrait, in Lego bricks, has been signed over to the Self-Portraits Collection of the Uffizi, while a variation of the Portrait of Filippo Strozzi, also in Lego, has been given to Fondazione Palazzo Strozzi.

The “Libero” exhibition at Palazzo Strozzi saw record visitor numbers of 150,000 in four months.
