Disco diva Gloria Gaynor, best known for the pop anthem “I Will Survive,” will land in Florence early this month before performing in Santa Croce sull’Arno on March 7 at 9.30pm, the eve of International Women’s Day.

The concert is part of the PalaPop festival, a series of eight concerts bringing Italian and international artists to the small Tuscan town. Shows take place at the PalaParenti stadium in via del Concilio. Gaynor’s performance has the support of the United States Consulate in Florence.

Concertgoers can expect a community-oriented evening: locally based Facebook group “Discoteca Concorde Anni 80/90”, managed by Jerome Mimmo and Alessandro Marcori, has prepared an elaborate choreographed and costumed dance designed to emulate the atmosphere of a 1970s disco.

The concert will end with a DJ set in collaboration with Radio Bruno and Maurizio Zini. Tickets start at 33 euro and are available for purchase on the PalaPop website.
