Starting October 27 and ending October 31, 2017, Italy’s truckers are striking against pay cuts and working conditions.

With truck drivers stopping their supplies on Friday, fuel shortages can be expected throughout the country. On Monday and Tuesday, lorry drivers will halt their work, bringing delays to deliveries. Concerns abound about supermarket shortfall with foodstuffs running out.

Organized by all three trade unions, Cgil, Cisl e Uil, the strike will apply to 50,000 truckers in Tuscany employed by transportation and distribution companies who are protesting against the removal of the quattordicesima, the additional month’s salary paid in June, fewer days off, no more seniority bonuses, the halving of transfer pay, hours off and holidays.
