Parking at Florence’s Santa Maria Novella Station underground lot now costs more.

The decision came yesterday as part of Florence’s ongoing changes in public transportation. Raised to a maximum of four euro per hour during high season, the purpose is to reduce traffic around the city’s central station and to restructure amenities and access around the major transport hub.

Local residents and business owners are set to benefit from the change as part of the parking will be allocated solely for their use.
