The first 22-minute ride, which ran from Amerigo Vespucci Airport to piazza dell’Unità, was presided over by Italian head of state Sergio Mattarella, Italian transport minister Danilo Toninelli, Mayor Dario Nardella and president of the Tuscan Region Enrico Rossi.

The tram runs from 5am to 12:30am from Sunday to Thursday and until 2am on Fridays and Saturdays. The service will be free until February 24, after which single tickets will cost 1.50 euro.

All connecting bus services will remain the same until February 23 with changes to lines 5, 7, 14, 23, 29, 30, 57 and 66 undergoing variations after that date. Bus line 22 will cease to exist, while two new bus services (16 and 68) will be added.
