A stand has been set up by the Toscana Film Commission at the 58th annual Cannes Film Festival as a reminder that Tuscany possesses one of the most beautiful natural movie sets on the planet.

The Commission’s main goal is to promote the landscape and culture of Tuscany as a prime film location. Entitled “Shoot Friendly in Tuscany,” their campaign entails a world tour during which the Commission will encourage film directors to choose Tuscany as their shooting location, as many of their predecessors have done.

A recent successful presentation at a film trade show in Los Angeles won the Commission approval for participation in the Cannes Film Festival, one of the most prestigious film festivals in the world.

“Food & Film in Tuscany” is what organisers are calling the myriad of events created specifically to lure the stars of Cannes to use Tuscany’s characteristic countryside and historic cities as backdrop.

Tuscany has long been a favourite film location for movie directors. From recent movies like “Tea With Mussolini,” “Stealing Beauty,” and “Hannibal” to classics like “Room With a View,” “The Night of the Shooting Stars,” and, of course, Benigni’s Oscar-winning “Life is Beautiful.”
