What happens when modern man decides he’s ready to encounter ancient wisdom? Or when ancient wisdom decides she’s willing to meet modern man? Such questions are ripe for the picking at the new anthropological lecture series Le culture millenarie e l’uomo moderno organised by C.E.A. di Firenze, a non-profit cultural organisation based in Florence.

The free program, hosted weekly at the Comune di Firenze’s conference hall at Quartiere 5 foresees a 3-month calendar of lectures that starts with the study of ancient Tibetan psychology, before heading towards “Millenary Egypt” and finally venturing westwards to the magical lands of the Celts.  Modern man comes into the equation with a variety of lectures including “Personality and Psyche” and “The Conscience and the Ego.”

“It’s a 360 degree study of man,” says lecturer Corina Vornicu. “As life in modern society becomes more and more complex, our need to investigate ancient culture grows. Certainly, the great civilisations of the past left us a patrimony of cultural wealth, but more importantly, they remind us to search for knowledge in its purest form. We study ancient cultures and modern society together, because there’s a lot of psychology in the myths and teachings of the millenary cultures.”

The lectures, held in Italian, will begin on Wednesday, October 19 and continue until the second week of December.
