The reds reign victorious

The Red team from Santa Maria Novella won the
2008 Calcio Storico on June 24, edging out the more inexperienced Blue team
from Santa Croce. The intense final game was all the more difficult with
sweltering temperatures. Celebrations continued into the night as fireworks lit
the sky over the city. After the match, members of both teams made an important
gesture of sportsmanship by shaking hands and congratulating their rivals for a
game well played.
