As part of Ottobre, piovono libri the
British Institute Harold Acton Library will exhibit an installation by young
American artist Samuel McCune. Composed of books seldom borrowed from the
library collection, by heightening the visibility of these books and
encouraging their perusal, the cairn raises awareness that ideas are in danger
of slipping from the cache of general knowledge.
During the month of October the Harold Acton
Library is also exhibiting letters and rare editions of books of well-known
British and Italian writers, including Gabriele D’Annunzio, Aldo Palazzeschi,
D.H. Lawrence, Evelyn Waugh, Edward Gordon Craig, Graham Greene, Herbert Horne,
Janet Ross, Rebecca West, and Kenneth Clark. Tours of the library are available
on October 23 and 30 from 10:30am to 6pm. For more information, call
