A group of protesters who fear
that they will lose their jobs entered the city hall of Aulla, Massa, on
October 14 and ‘sequestered’ the mayor. Workers from the Costa Mauro firm, a
Tuscan waste disposal company, located in Albiano Magra, Massa, took the town hall, they explained, to safeguard their livelihoods.
While some detained the mayor in his office, others climbed up to rooftop,
threatening extreme acts if their calls for help weren’t heard. The occupation
of city hall was a symbolic act, the top city official told reporters.
