On November 1, four under-18 rugby teams from Tuscany and Abruzzo played in a tournament in Florence to raise funds for a new, multifunctional complex for youth in the earthquake-hit city of L’Aquila. Organized by the regional Fir committee and sponsored by the Italian youth ministry and the city of Florence, the tourney, called Youth for Abruzzo, involved L’Aquila Rugby 1936, XV de’ Medici, Livorno Lions Amaranto and Rugby Firenze 81. After the one-day tournament, the teams went to Franchi Stadium to raise funds during the Fiorentina-Catania match. The complex in L’Aquila will be a place where youth can participate in sports, music, art and other cultural activities.
