Among the 13 people who ended up in handcuffs in a recent operation to stop illegal drug trafficking in Viareggio was a 62-year-old woman, known as Nonna Ernesta, and her elderly partner. The woman, who is considered the brains of a drug dealing clan from the district of Varignano, oversaw an outfit that sold up to half a kilo of cocaine per week. Nonna Ernesta was known to sell drugs to clients even while at the beach in Viareggio with her grandchildren.
