Bolatti back to Brazil

On February 6, ACF Fiorentina announced that the club sold Argentinian Mario Ariel Bolatti to Sport Club Internacional in Porto Alegre, Brazil.

An important win in Palermo

On February 13, the Fiorentina arrived in Palermo with the odds against them: Palermo had won the last seven home games and the Fiorentina had not won an away game since last March. In the seventh minute, Javier Pastore scored the first goal for Palermo. Almost a half hour later, Viola striker Alberto Gilardino scored to tie. At the beginning of the second half, Palermo midfielder Antonio Nocerino scored a goal. Then in the 70th minute, Viola defender Michele Camporese scored his first goal in Serie A to tie the score again. Eight minutes later, Palermo defender Cesare Bovo kicked the ball into the goal, thus scoring for the Fiorentina, and shortly after Viola captain Riccardo Montolivo scored his first goal of the season, assuring a win for the Fiorentina, 2-4.

Fiorentina fought hard, but lost

Inter came to Florence on February 16 to play a match postponed from last year. After five minutes of play, Eto’o kicked the ball that Camporese tried to deflect, but instead scored Inter’s first goal. In the 33rd minute, Manuel Pasqual scored a goal to tie up the game. The draw did not last long: only a few minutes into the second half, ex-Viola striker Giampaolo Pazzini scored a goal to put Inter in the lead 1-2. The Fiorentina fought hard to score a goal to end in a draw, but were unable to do so.

Happy birthday to Mihajlovic and Boruc!

Serbian head coach Sinisa Mihajlovic celebrated his 41st birthday on February 20, as did Polish goalkeeper Artur Boruc, who turned 31. Earlier in his career, Mihajlovic, who was hired in June 2010 after Cesare Prandelli left the team to coach the Italian national team, played soccer professionally in Italy for Roma, Sampdoria, Lazio and Inter. Boruc has played almost every match for the Fiorentina since Sébastien Frey injured his knee last year.

Fiorentina-Sampdoria

The Viola welcomed Sampdoria at Franchi Stadium on February 20. Neither team scored a goal, thus the match ended in a draw. Each team earned one point, allowing the Fiorentina to end the week in 11th place in the Serie A rankings.
