TF has teamed up with Yelp (famous in the States but
new in town) to offer a fully rounded event: Panino Tondo will be providing
tasters of vegan sandwiches, hamburgers and its brand new Bagel DOP, with
complimentary chasers. Ham it up in front of a vintage Fiat 500 from the 500
Touring Club, and stick around for the fun and games typical of Yelp events

TF EVENT/Book Launch

Women artists in Florence have long been overlooked,
but the latest book by TF writers Jane Fortune and Linda Falcone, published by
The Florentine Press, brings them into the spotlight. The launch of Art by
Women in Florence: A Guide Through Five Hundred Years will be as
unconventional as many of the artists it describes. Join the authors and art
historians for Art by Women in the Vasari Corridor, a tour of the historic

Bacon and the Existential Condition in Contemporary Art, Bacon’s paintings are

Over 50 works from the Russian artist considered to be
the father of abstract painting will be shown at the exhibit Wassily Kandinsky,
from Russia to Europe. From symbolism to avant-garde, the exhibit focuses on
the visual and conceptual roots of Kandinsky’s works, including several rare

KIDS/Museum Time

State museums in Florence Museo San Casciano, Via Lucardesi, San Casciano

 

Entertainment and culture: what more could you want
for your little ones? Two events this month provide this great mix: the San

is offering English-language workshops for children on October 13, and state
museums in Florence will host guided visits for kids on October 14, 20 and 27

STEAM TRAIN/Treno Natura

From October 14, Sundays till the end of the year,
various locations near Siena.

 

Travel back in time with a journey on this vintage
steam train through the beautiful Tuscan countryside. Each day the train takes
visitors on different routes, with stops along the way, including sagre,

October 25 to December 14

Most events at the Odeon Cinema, piazza Strozzi, 2, Florence

A cinematic tour through more than 150 films from all
over the globe, along with exhibits, special events and meetings. With
something for all tastes and interests, the 50-day event comprises nine
festivals, including the Balkan Florence Express and the International Festival
of Women and Cinema. The first festival, starting October 25, is the Florence
Queer Festival, featuring LGBT-themed cinema, art, theatre, exhibits and

UPCOMING/Urban Trekking Day

October 27, Siena, Pisa, Arezzo and Pistoia

 

Combining exercise and culture, the national day of
Urban Trekking encourages locals and tourists alike to discover Italian cities
by foot. Maps are available at www.trekkingurbano.info and provide a variety of
routes through medieval cities, encompassing viewpoints, museums and special
trails for families. The participating cities in Tuscany are Siena, Pisa,
Arezzo and Pistoia.
