WHITE TRUFFLES/Sagra del Tartufo Bianco

November 10-11, 17-18 and 24-25. Historic centre of San Miniato

White truffles are as revered as gold nuggets, and truffle-hunters guard their locations and the dogs that find them almost as fiercely as they do their children. The area around San Miniato provides 25 percent of Italy’s truffles, and for three weeks every year the centre of this medieval hilltop town hosts gastronomic and cultural events celebrating not only this delicacy, but also all Tuscan specialities and products.
