Are you staying in Florence this summer? Heat and humidity aside, there’s a whole host of fun events and activities in store in the city and throughout Tuscany. What could be a better way to celebrate summer than by sipping a cocktail while admiring a spectacular view over Florence? The initiative Terrazza con vista opens up a number of the city’s rooftop terraces to the public, which offer incredible panoramas and fabulous photo opportunities for the snap-happy. Come for an aperitivo, dinner, or simply to soak up the sunny days and balmy evenings while gazing over the rooftops; see page 15 for more.

Responding to a call for summer tips, you have sent us your ideas and advice for coping with the heat, lapping up the rays and relaxing in the shade. From open-air bars to hidden beaches, shady gardens to the best gelato, turn to pages 12 and 13 for ways to enjoy summer in Tuscany and Florence.

This year, free, open-air screenings of English language films are being held in Florence’s beautiful piazza SS. Annunziata; read more about this programme and reviews of the films on offer on page 14.

The Florentine will be back on September 12.

Have a great summer!
