The harvest is late in the Chianti Classico Gallo Nero region, but 2013 promises to be an excellent vintage.
Although the verdict will not be known for several weeks, the Chianti Classico Gallo Nero consortium of winemakers is predicting great things for this year.
The forecast is based on the quality of Sangiovese grapes, which are still growing, later than recent years, albeit still within the traditional timeframe for harvest in the Gallo Nero terroir.
Early specimens of 2013 Sangiovese grapes have revealed good sugar levels and well-balanced acidity, which bodes well for the oenological process.
