In search of something crafty to do in 2014? Knitting might be the thing. Florence is brimming with knitting groups stitched with an international make-up.
Head to the knit café at IBS.it bookshop in via de’ Cerretani, 16R, on Mondays from 5 to 7pm. Participants knit, crochet and chat over a cup of tea in a relaxed environment. Wool, needles and crochet hooks are provided by Campolmi filati (www.campolmifilati.it). For more information, email eventifirenze@ibs.it.
Essère Atelier’s knit café meets once a month (next meeting: 11 February) in via dell’Agnolo, 65R. You can knit independently or as part of a group working on an endless, multicoloured scarf. For more information, e-mail info@esserefirenze.com or call 055/242703.
In Isolotto, Biblioknitcaffè gets together every second and fourth Wednesday of the month from 3.30pm onwards in the winter (every second and fourth Thursday of the month at 4pm in July and August). Established in 2010, the group welcomes everyone and offers advice on knitting and crochet as well as lace and weaving. Bring your own needles and wool or borrow the group’s equipment.
