After the terrible hailstorm on September 19, the Biblioteca Nazionale di Firenze is left with 900,000 euro of damages. The director of the library Maria Letizia Sebastiani commented that the majority of the damage is to the eaves and skylights of the building.

 

The reconstruction began about a week ago, and is predicted to go on for at least a few more months. The director asked for help from fellow citizens to donate any amount and help support the work being done. In the meantime she thanked the people who helped raise 6,000 euro so far, and comments that the donations keep coming.

 

The Dona 1 Euro campaign will go on until December 31, and it is asking for help in the form of donations of all sized. It is possible to donate in person at the library, or through a bank transfer to the following bank details:
