The spirit of giving has reached new heights along lungarno Corsini: this year’s Flo Concept Store charity Christmas tree is so tall (in one’s mind anyway!) that only a small part of the trunk fits in the shop window. Use your imagination and visualize the highest branches reaching high above the palazzo and down into the basement. The site-specific installation, in cardboard, is the brainchild of Margherita Citran and the group of young theatre set designers, Tutta Scena, from the Tuscan village of Tavarnuzze. As has become the custom, this special Christmas tree benefits children’s charity Dynamo Camp.

For the 2014 holiday season, Flo has also published a fairytale (currently available in Italian) to accompany the tree. Perfect for adults and children alike, eight-year-old Michele discovers the essence of Christmas as he encounters the oddest of characters while following an ant that is climbing up a tall fir tree.

A social cooperative with a focus on collaboration and showcasing up-and-coming designers, Flo Concept Store (lungarno Corsini 30–34r) is also a great place to find some unusual gifts for friends and family this holiday season. Try a stylish scarf necklace with a ceramic statement piece or one of the one-off-crafted coats made by Flo’s own designers.
