Five bars headquartered in via dei Benci have opened up summer spaces in the Cascine. Gallery, Moyo, Soul Kitchen, Oibò and Kikuya have taken up residence at the often vacant Tamburello allo Sferisterio area under the ‘umbrella’ of Benci Bar.
Until August 10, the five bars have decided to join forces in the outdoor space to bring the Cascine alive with concerts, DJ sets and an array of entertainment. Local bands, themed nights and ethnic music are all part of the Benci Bar package. Florentine food chain Pizzaman serves pizza straight from a wood-burning oven every night from 7pm, while Radio Firenze is the official media partner of the Cascine-centred summer showcase.
The idea came from the city of Florence in efforts to decentralize summer nightlife. Indeed, the Benci Bar stays open until 3am; a welcome alternative for the five businesses, whose bars in the Santa Croce neighbourhood are expected to close earlier as part of the agreement with the city.
